In Cesenatico, historical evidence and seafaring tradition live in tune with the reality of a modern tourist resort. Ancient sailboats are moored side by side with the fishing boats that daily pace the times of the Canal Harbour, designed by Leonardo in the 1500s, with their exits.
The Old Fish Market, which is still active, is a short walk from the Piazzetta delle Conserve, where fish was stored in the ancient and characteristic wells dug into the sandy soil.
Cesenatico, in its historic centre, is an open-air museum waiting to be discovered, which boasts a stable and qualified offer of a a15> network of cultural institutions: the Museum of Maritime History, the Antiquarium, Casa Moretti, the Theatre and the Municipal Library , as well as historic and evocative places such as Piazza Pisacane, with the monument to Garibaldi, or the nearby archaeological park with the ruins of the medieval fortress.
